Handshakes-Fivehead (Midnight Surfer Remix)

Hey Friends,

Just finished up a new remix for my friends, Handshakes, https://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/handshakes . There album was just released by Old Flame Records out of Brooklyn, and with gigs up and down the Westcoast, and already buzz within the LA scene, I can only see these guys leaving their mark on the music industry within the the next year.

This remix really challenged me and took my production skills to another level as this song had two different BPM's, as well as two different time signatures. After scratching my head for a bit, I ended up figuring out how to properly match each section with the proper BPM and time signature. So here is my take on Fivehead available for free thanks to Handshakes and Old Flame Records.

Ruby Frost-Moonlight (Midnight Surfer Remix)

Ruby Frost http://www.myspace.com/rubyfrostis an artist brought to my attention this year. I really like her voice, but had a problem bringing this tune into my DJ sets, so I decided to add my own personal touch to this tune, and make it a bit more DJ friendly. I went aqbout this by adding some synths and some new drums to bring the beat up a bit. I am really looking forward to her debut release this year, and I think she will win the world over with her beautiful voice.

Unknown Mortal Orchestra - How Can U Luv Me?

I just saw these guys last Friday night, when they opened for the Naked and Famous. They were a great opener, and I really dug their sound. Thought the bass player had some mad skills, and I can see these guys having a big future.

Parallels-Ultralight (Midnight Surfer Remix)

Photo Norman Wong

Here is a remix I did of Ultralight by Parallels. Parallels, http://www.myspace.com/parallelsfm,is an amazing group out of Canada, comprised of the talents of Holly Dobson (Vocals) and Cameron Findlay (Drums). Most people are fimiliar with Cameron's early work as drummer of Crystal Castles, but don't let his past work fool you. Their new album is more relaective of early disco greats, rather than the new electro sound reaching all aspects of the globe. Visionaries is one of my favorite new albums this year and I highly suggest checking it out and Parallels on tour this Spring. Still sad they aren't stopping by LA for the night.
